Whether you know him as our fearless whip-cracking leader of Progression Raid or as That Guy Who Always Has Shox In His Name, Bloodshox always seems to have a shroud of mystery about him. But not today! Have your gems, enchants, potions, tomes, oils, armor kits, etc. and prepare to get to know Bloodshox!
WoW Stuff
How long have you played wow?
Since Christmas 2004, over half of my life now.
How did you come to start playing?
My friends and I in 7th or 8th grade loved Warcraft 3 and when we heard about an open world version of that it sounded awesome. Got it as a Christmas gift from my parents. Only one of my friends ended up playing it really and that was only for a year or so.
What’s your favorite race/spec?
It’s changed over the years. My first real character was a night elf MM hunter, but now I’d definitely say orc shaman. Spec preference changes with the wind.
What brought you to Darkwind?
A different group of IRL friends were in the guild while I was taking a break from playing in MoP and recommended I join when I finally came back. Even transferred from horde to do so, not sure if it was worth it still. 😛
What is your favorite thing to do in game?
Pretty much all end game content. Raiding, PvP, and Mythic+. I have a big collection of mounts and pets but my toy collection is the most impressive.
If wow were to suddenly disappear, what game would you be playing?
That’s a really tough question I’ve thought about a lot over the years. Probably something else heavily repeatable like League of Legends or another MOBA. Currently I’m enjoying Dead by Daylight and Monster Hunter Rise.
If you could vacation anywhere in game…
If I didn’t want anyone to find me, probably my garrison. Otherwise I think Ashenvale, Ardenweald, or Winterspring. Ashenvale has to be my favorite zone in the game. I love how expansive it is, the music, and just the magical forest vibe. I say Ardenweald for a similar reason. The most realistic choice would be Winterspring because I love the cold, and it’s also one of my favorite zones.
If you were able to turn any in-game mount into a real life one…
Hogrus, free gold! My Vengeful Nether Drake is my favorite mount so I’d probably pick that one though.
If you were able to turn any in-game pet into a real –life one…
I have my own Alterac Brew Pup already at home so I’d take Xu-Fu. Who doesn’t want more cats? Especially powerful magic ones.
What is your most favorite dungeon or raid in WoW? Least favorite?
My favorite dungeon is probably the original Temple of Atal’Hakkar, before it was sectioned off. It was cool being able to activate different bosses and go to different areas without any real direction. Favorite raid is easily the original Naxxramas at level 60. Loved the difficulty, ambience, and unique roles most classes could fill on different bosses. It lost a bit of its magic with the WotLK rework imo, and the transmog got a lot worse. Least favorite dungeon is Siege of Boralus. Not only unfair to one faction but just terrible all around. Least favorite raid is probably Heart of Fear. I can’t say I hate any raid but that one is just unremarkable and I didn’t enjoy many of the mechanics.
Who is your favorite character from the World of Warcraft and why?
As a shaman main I have to say Thrall. Arthas is definitely up there as well, seeing how Warcraft 3 really got me into the game.
What is one of your favorite wow memoires?
There are way too many to count with how long WoW has been in my life. Logging in to see my first gladiator title back in BC felt really good. Getting the kill on Muru in Sunwell pre-nerf was also a highlight of raiding for me. The fact that I’ve met a bunch of friends through Darkwind and met up with them IRL is also something I never thought would happen, but I’m thankful for.
What random event would you like Darkwind to do?
Not really that random but my first thought after the last question was that we need to have another DarkwindCon when it’s safe to do so.
When Not Playing WoW
What are some of your hobbies?
Mostly just playing video games. I’ve become a big Dungeons & Dragons nerd in the last few years, though I don’t get to play with my friends as much as I’d like to.
What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?
Not sure. More D&D and video games?
Do you collect anything?
Not including in game stuff, not really. Unless you consider some WoW statues/plushies and D&D books a collection.
Favorite book?
I haven’t read many books lately but I really enjoyed the Eragon series in high school. Too bad they never made a movie….
Favorite TV show?
Currently the MCU ones like Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision. I also enjoy Stranger Things, The Witcher, The Mandalorian, Avatar the Last Airbender, Legend of Korra. I’m sure I’m missing some.
Favorite movie?
Don’t really have one. I really like most of the Marvel movies (don’t judge me). Other ones I can think of are Baby Driver, John Wick movies, pretty much anything with good action and a half believable story.
Favorite meal/food?
Again too many to choose from. I’ll go with a good Baconeggandcheese (yes that’s one word, New Yorkers will understand) on a roll from a deli for breakfast. Ramen for dinner, not the $.50 kind of course.
Coolest place you ever visited irl?
Does Blizzcon count? Haven’t travelled too much honestly. I remember what I do with my friends or family more than the places I’ve been.
Do you have any pets? If so, introduce us!
3 dogs, 3 cats. In order: Tank, Crystal, Reeses, and Black Kitty, Bones, Dimby.
If you could have a super power for 24 hours, what would it be and what would you do with it?
Talking to animals? Creating money? I dunno, something generic like that I suppose. I’m not creative. Long term I’d probably take the ability to control the temperature wherever I am, and keep it below 70F.
What’s the most useless talent you have?
I am really good at remembering numbers and birthdays, but nothing else.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
Somewhere that never gets above 70F, has good varieties of food in the area, and has good internet. Google server room maybe? I’m not too picky.
What did you want to be when you were little?
I honestly can’t remember. Successful?
What would you sing at Karaoke night?
We Are The Champions by Queen. In spoken word poem form obviously.
If you could share a meal with any 3 individuals, living or dead, who would they be?
I don’t like meeting new people. Probably just 3 of my friends, I’m boring.
What is your spirit animal?
I’ve always felt a connection with bears and I’m not sure why. I’ve had a bear as my steam profile picture since I created it.
What small things brighten your day?
When everything goes according to plan. I’m definitely a person of routine and I don’t do well when it’s broken.
What’s something about you that most people don’t know?
Most people are intimidated by me in game, as I’m told fairly often, but I tend to drop everything to help people I care about when they need me. Even for little things.
